Our clients are truly incredible. They open up to us about the hardest moments of their lives, trusting us to be that safe container for them. They share about their trauma, relationship challenges, insecurities, and sometimes even their desire to no longer be alive. This is such a testament to the strong therapeutic relationship you’ve built with them - which says so much about you and how amazing you are. I’d love to share what I’ve learned over the last 11+ years of doing this work and offer you the knowledge and resources to encourage and empower you when addressing the topic of suicide with your clients. With September being National Suicide Prevention Month, this is the perfect time to talk all about it. Let’s do this.

Hey you,

First of all, thank you for all the work you do. No, seriously, a big THANK YOU. Your ability to build relationships, empathize with your clients, and create belonging makes a world of difference in the work you do.

I also want to acknowledge the fact that you're here exploring if this training is right for you and thank you for showing up. By being here, you’re not just showing up for your clients, but for yourself as well.

As someone who has been in the field for over a decade and has done a lot of crisis work, I know first-hand how challenging the topic of suicide can be. In many ways, talking to people through some of the hardest and darkest moments of their life doesn't necessarily get easier, but we can build more skills and confidence so that we feel better equipped in having these really tough conversations.

My goal in this training is to support you by offering a suicide training that is relatable, non-judgmental, professional, and immediately applicable. We need practical, accessible tools that we can use in our practice right away, and that's exactly what "Suicide is Not a Bad Word—Let's Talk About It" is designed to provide. This training will equip you with the knowledge and skills to navigate these challenging conversations with confidence, empathy, and competence.

In my experience, it's not a question of 'if' you'll encounter this issue, but 'when.' Whether you're a graduate-level mental health professional, a new therapist, or a seasoned clinician looking to expand your expertise, understanding how to approach suicide with confidence and compassion is so important.

If I’m honest, I want to discuss this “taboo” topic in a way that’s engaging, practical, and far from intimidating. I get genuinely excited talking about suicide—yes, you read that right—and you can expect that kind of energy throughout the training. It’s my jam, and I know that’s not exactly the norm when it comes to discussing such a heavy topic. But that’s exactly why this training will stand out for you. I bring a unique blend of both personal and professional experiences with suicide to this training, ensuring it’s both deeply informed, educational, and relatable.

Come ready to learn more about understanding suicide on a foundational level - looking at suicide as a scale and understanding theory as it relates to suicide, relevant statistics, warning signs, risk factors, and protective factors (including specifically for Black and Latinx individuals), explore self-injury, discuss firearms and suicidality, risk assessments, safety planning, and explore resources.

See you soon!
